Knowledge is your best weapon

.

We continue our posts on education in Italy. This time we talk about equipollenza (equivalence of qualifications) and CIMEA.

Cimea is an information centre that provides advice and services on the recognition of foreign educational qualifications. Here you can request the so-called comparability certificate (Attestato di Comparabilità). This document is needed by those who plan to study or to have their diploma recognised through a university. Through a university you can obtain the so-called riconoscimento accademico (academic recognition): the university determines to what extent your diploma does or does not correspond to an Italian higher-education qualification.

How do you apply to a university for recognition of your diploma? Choose an institution that is convenient for you or close to where you live. Each university has its own list of documents on its website. Look for the section “riconoscimento titolo accademico estero” (recognition of foreign academic qualifications), find the contacts of the office for international students, send your questions and get your diplomas recognised. If you need to complete further study, do it: you will obtain a European diploma, which will make you more competitive on the job market.

As for CIMEA, as of 31.01.2024 the service on its website is not yet available. While we wait for the update, create your profile now at https://mywallet.cimea-diplome.it/

Prepare and upload as PDFs the educational documents you have (translated and apostilled): one separate file with the Ukrainian originals and one separate file with the translations.

More information on the procedure for the recognition of educational documents is available on the official website of the Italian Ministry of University and Research.
