On Sunday, 24 March 2024, Lamezia Terme – Crotone in Italy witnessed a remarkable display of civic engagement and solidarity.

Members of the “SVITANOK” association organised the “Palm Sunday” charity fair to raise funds for an electric generator to support Ukraine’s defenders.

The idea grew out of an awareness of how important it is to help those on the front line defending peace and freedom. Ukrainians and local residents joined forces to contribute to this noble cause.

The fair offered a wide range of goods, from handicrafts to food and souvenirs.

Despite the difficult times and the geographical distance, the event became an important symbol of different cultures and nationalities coming together for a worthy cause. It showed the greatness of the human spirit and a community’s ability to come to the aid of those in need.

The Ukrainian community and local residents together raised €319.20 for Ukraine’s defenders. The “Palm Sunday” charity fair proved a success not only financially but also in bringing the community together and fostering understanding between nations.

Events like this remind us how important it is to work together and support one another in difficult times, and of the power of community dialogue and active participation in community life.
