Nataliia Pashkovska: Light and Shadow in Oil Painting

Nataliia Pashkovska is an artist who devotes herself with particular passion to oil painting, captivated by the techniques of the great masters of the past. Her artistic journey began not at art school but through self-study and a deep desire to create, as she found inspiration in the classical techniques of grisaille and chiaroscuro. Using the effects of light and shadow, she creates compositions full of depth, drama and emotional colour.

Although her career was long tied to business in trade and manufacturing, once the war began art became for her not only an outlet but also a way of seeing reality afresh. It was during this period that she began to devote more time to painting, refining her technique and finding her own style. Having moved to Italy with her children at her husband’s request, she discovered new opportunities to grow, since today’s world and the easy availability of information make it possible to learn wherever you are. She regularly follows painting lessons by teachers on YouTube, drawing on the knowledge of those who have already achieved mastery.

One of the key aspects of her creative development is copying the works of great painters. For Nataliia this is not merely a way of learning but a chance to immerse herself in the masters’ technique and to understand how they handled light, colour and texture. Although her portfolio still contains few original compositions, she gladly gives her paintings to those who truly value them.

Recognition in the art world does not always depend on an academic education — what matters is a passion for art, a tireless desire to improve and the drive to create. Nataliia is taking significant steps in this direction, and her participation in the competition held by the Dantebus Bazart gallery in Florence marks an important moment in her artistic development: a chance to present her work to a wider audience, gain new experience and open up new prospects.

In the future she aims to create more original compositions, which will form the core of a solo exhibition. Nataliia believes that art is a constant process of improvement, a search for the new and an expression of one’s inner world through paint and canvas. She continues on her path with inspiration and a readiness to grow, discovering new creative horizons.
