Resilience Day: an online meeting between pupils from Italy and Ukraine

Scuola Secondaria di primo grado Dante Alighieri, Sammichele di Bari – “Suzirʼia” Lyceum of Vyshhorod City Council

On 11 March 2026, as part of the “100×100: Bridges of Education” project, an online meeting took place between pupils of class 3A at the Scuola Secondaria di primo grado Dante Alighieri (Sammichele di Bari, Italy) and the 9th grade of the “Suzirʼia” Lyceum of Vyshhorod City Council, Kyiv Oblast.

The theme of the meeting was “Resilience Day”. During the conversation, the Ukrainian pupils described their school life amid the full-scale war in Ukraine and shared their experience of taking part in volunteer projects and charitable initiatives.

The Italian pupils had prepared a presentation about their school and the town they live in, and introduced their Ukrainian peers to the culture of their region.

The meeting also became a space for lively exchange: the pupils asked each other questions and eagerly discussed various aspects of everyday life. Of particular interest were the education systems of the two countries, the structure of the school day and the learning of foreign languages.

Even when the lesson was over, the pupils still had plenty of questions for each other, and they agreed to continue the conversation at their next meeting.
