Sofiia Mazurets was born in Kyiv, a city with a rich history and deep cultural traditions. It was here that she studied at the Mykhailo Boichuk Kyiv Institute of Decorative and Applied Arts and Design. Sofiia devoted most of her life to her family and to raising three children, but her love of art always remained part of her soul, waiting for its moment.
The outbreak of the full-scale war turned her life upside down. Like many Ukrainians, Sofiia was forced to leave her homeland. She chose Italy, and today she lives in the picturesque city of Cosenza. The move was a hard challenge, but it also opened up new opportunities for personal fulfilment and creative growth.
It was in Italy that Sofiia returned to art, which became her way of finding inner peace. Drawing was at first a form of meditation for her, but over time it became something more — a path to a new life. Sofiia focused on graphic drawing, creating inspiring illustrations and portraits of people and animals.
The small city of Cosenza, with its welcoming streets and hospitable people, has become Sofiia’s new home and a source of inspiration. Her works carry a piece of her soul, deep emotion and an unbreakable spirit. With every drawing she not only expresses herself but also keeps her bond with her native Ukraine alive, conveying its strength and beauty through art.
For Sofiia, portraits and graphic works are not just art — they are a story written in shadows and colours. Every detail matters; every work is a story that comes to life on paper. And the best ending of all is the joy of the people who see and feel her work.
Art helped Sofiia start again with a clean slate and gave her strength and confidence in the future. She believes that her works can touch hearts, bring joy and stand as a symbol of resilience and hope.
