Tetiana Ivanova, an Artist Exploring the Depths of the Soul

Tetiana Ivanova is an artist who, through years of searching and discovery, has developed her own distinctive style, drawing inspiration from deep emotions, from light and shadow, and from the atmosphere and character of the figures she portrays.

She was born on 16 September 1977 in Kharkiv, where she immersed herself in art from an early age. She graduated from art college with a qualification as an art teacher and later, from 1998 to 2004, studied at the Academy of Design and Arts in Kharkiv. She began her career teaching at a children’s art school, passing on her love of art to young talents.

Her experience includes many international exhibitions and plein-air painting workshops in Poland and Hungary, as well as solo exhibitions in Kharkiv and Rome. She took part in restoring the 17th-century murals of the Intercession Monastery in Kharkiv and volunteered on archaeological excavations in France. Her work has reached an international level: the exhibition “Artista per la pace” in Palermo, a publication in the Art Now 2022 catalogue, and participation in an international UNESCO project with exhibitions in Paris and Rome.

Since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, she has continued to live and work in Rome, developing her artistic language. Her work is not simply a depiction of people but an effort to convey their inner world, their emotions and energy, and the metaphorical shifts of light and shadow. She seeks out the moments when light disappears and reappears unexpectedly, breaking traditional academic rules while creating deep emotional effects.

Her artistic practice is a constant process of searching, observing, exploring and discovering. Changes in the way she sees the world lead her to new subjects and new ways of depicting them, keeping her creatively curious and eager to explore the depths of art.
