Third press release – 10–12 December 2024, Brussels

Congress#Main events

Over three days, in the halls and corridors of the European Parliament, a series of meetings was held with the EP leadership, MEPs and advisers responsible for Ukraine-related matters. The main focus was on cooperation with representatives of the “Friends of Ukraine” group, who firmly support our struggle for freedom and democracy.

There were also meetings with the so-called “PACifists”, whose position goes no further than calls for a ceasefire and avoiding escalation. Yet even among them there were some who, for the first time, had the chance to talk to Ukrainians in person, to see our pain and our anguish over the war, and to understand how Russia’s terrorist nature is destroying not only Ukraine but world peace as well.

“Ukrainian Women Leaders for Peace”

At individual events, such as the women’s conference “Ukrainian Women Leaders for Peace”, CNAUI representatives raised issues concerning humanitarian needs, the rights of Ukrainian women and children affected by the war, and the importance of uniting international efforts to counter Russian aggression.

The CNAUI delegation is grateful for the opportunity to be heard at such a high level and will continue working to strengthen cooperation between the Ukrainian community in Italy and the European institutions.

The delegation of the National Congress of Ukrainian Associations in Italy (CNAUI) was the first Ukrainian delegation from Italy to present its position with dignity within the walls of the European Parliament.
