🕯️ 26 April 2026 — 40 years since the Chornobyl tragedy
Today marks 40 years since one of the most terrible man-made disasters in human history — the accident at the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant.
This tragedy changed Ukraine, Europe and the whole world forever, a reminder of how fragile safety can be when it is taken lightly.
But today we face a new, even more dangerous threat.
The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant in Enerhodar is under occupation, and the very fact of its seizure has become an instrument of pressure and fear. Experts and international organisations have repeatedly stressed that any accident at such a facility would have consequences far beyond Ukraine’s borders.
Sadly, humanity often has a short memory.
Yet we have no right to forget Chornobyl — and no right to allow another catastrophe.
We remember.
We warn.
We work to protect life and the future.
