Chernivtsi, 30 April 2025
The Chairman of the Chernivtsi Regional Council, Oleksii Boiko, has signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the National Congress of Ukrainian Associations in Italy (CNAUI).
This important document lays the foundation for cooperation in international partnership between the regions of Ukraine and the Ukrainian diaspora in Italy.
Earlier, on 8 March 2025, CNAUI President Lara Levchun signed the memorandum in Rome, at an official ceremony in the European Commission hall.
Present at the signing were:
Vadym Sydiachenko – honorary board member of CNAUI and the organisation’s representative in Ukraine.
Yurii Bondar – Head of the Department of International Relations and Cross-Border Cooperation of the Chernivtsi Regional Council.
The parties discussed the key areas of partnership, including:
– cultural and educational exchanges between Ukraine and Italy;
– support for Ukrainians living abroad;
– the development of economic initiatives;
– international cooperation between regional administrations.
Oleksii Boiko stressed the importance of cooperating with the Ukrainian diaspora, noting its role in building ties between countries:
“I am confident that this memorandum will make it possible to carry out joint initiatives that will contribute to the cultural, educational and economic development of our region.”
Lara Levchun emphasised that Ukrainians living in Italy are a kind of “bridge” between Ukraine and the EU:
“The Ukrainian diaspora is a powerful force that can support regional initiatives and help build cooperation between Ukraine and Italy. We aim to ensure effective engagement between local administrations and the Ukrainian community in Europe.”
The signing of this memorandum was an important step towards expanding international partnership between Ukrainian communities abroad and the regions of Ukraine. The joint projects and initiatives to be carried out under this agreement will contribute to the cultural and economic growth of both the Chernivtsi region and the Ukrainian community in Italy.
