On 18 November the Region of Tuscany and the Kyiv region signed a memorandum on a long-term partnership aimed at joint development and humanitarian aid.

One of the key areas of cooperation is an international medical partnership between the Meyer Children’s Hospital in Florence and the paediatric hospital of the Kyiv region. Under the agreement, four Ukrainian doctors will come to Tuscany for a three-week placement.

The document was signed by the President of Tuscany, Eugenio Giani, and the Head of the Kyiv Regional State Administration, Ruslan Kravchenko. During the exchange of gifts Giani presented the region’s emblems, and Kravchenko gave a medallion made from Russian shells found in Bucha.

On 19 November, as part of the visit, a meeting was held with the Ukrainian community. Representatives of the National Congress of Ukrainian Associations in Italy (CNAUI) — Dr Edoardo Pagnini, Head of the Department of International Integration, and the lawyer Yuliya Muts — discussed the importance of the Ukrainian community in international relations.

They stressed the community’s role as a bridge for strengthening cultural, economic and humanitarian ties between Italy and Ukraine.
