How to have a dental hygienist diploma recognised

StepMed#StepMed

The occupation of “dental hygienist” has the code 3222 in the Classifier of Occupations of Ukraine and corresponds to a profession recognised in Italy through the procedure for non-EU health qualifications (riconoscimento del titolo sanitario extra-UE).

To have the diploma recognised in order to practise the profession in Italy, the applicant must submit an application to the Italian Ministry of Health (Ministero della Salute), bearing a €16 revenue stamp and accompanied by a set of documents.

Documents must be submitted not as originals but as certified copies. All documents must be apostilled in Ukraine, then translated and legalised either at the Italian Embassy in Ukraine or at an Italian court.

If the documentation is incomplete, the Ministry will ask for it to be completed.

Possible outcomes:
– a decree of full recognition;
– recognition subject to compensatory measures (misure compensative) (for example, an adaptation period or an aptitude test);
– refusal of recognition.

Where to submit the documents:
In person or by post to:
Direzione Generale delle Professioni sanitarie
Viale Giorgio Ribotta, 5
00144 Roma

IMPORTANT:
Ukraine does not issue a certificate of professional good standing (Attestato di onorabilità professionale / Good standing).
Instead, you should enclose a certificate confirming that you have no criminal record and no criminal proceedings against you.
This certificate is valid for only 6 months from the date of issue.

List of documents to submit

1. A copy of an identity document (passport or carta d’identità, the Italian identity card).
2. A certified copy of the diploma with its supplement, showing the length of study and the hours for each subject.
3. Dichiarazione di valore (a statement of the value of the qualification, issued by the Italian Embassy) or, in certain circumstances, a CIMEA certificate.
4. A criminal record certificate (as stated above).
5. Proof of professional activity after graduation (employment record book, contract, etc.).
6. Certified copies of certificates for additional courses, professional development or specialisations.
7. A signed CV.
8. A €16 revenue stamp (marca da bollo), affixed to the application.
