Bridges of cooperation between Ukraine and Italy 🇺🇦🇮🇹

On 30 November an important step was taken in the international educational project “100×100: Bridges of Education”, an initiative of the National Congress of Ukrainian Associations in Italy (CNAUI) APS.

The head of Lyceum No. 3 of Nova Kakhovka City Council, Iryna Dubas, and her deputy for teaching and pastoral work, Kateryna Bondar, visited Colleferro (Italy) as part of the cooperation programme between Ukrainian and Italian schools.

During the visit they met the President of Colleferro City Council, Emanuele Girolami, and the project coordinator, President of the National Congress of Ukrainian Associations in Italy (CNAUI) APS, Lara Levchun.

The two sides discussed the directions of the international partnership, support for Ukrainian pupils and opportunities for joint educational initiatives.

The lyceum’s representatives also visited Liceo Marconi in Colleferro (head teacher: Patrizia Fiaschetti), where they met the deputy head, Vincenzo Gentile. This is the school that will partner our lyceum in future educational and cultural projects.

The “100×100: Bridges of Education” (Ponti dell’Istruzione) project aims to strengthen educational ties between Ukraine and Italy, creating new opportunities for learning, growth and mutual understanding between schools in the two countries.

The project today

More than 240 Ukrainian schools have already joined the initiative, a sign of the enormous interest in international cooperation in education.

The project’s mission has three main goals:

  • To give Ukrainian children the chance to communicate and work with their Italian peers through cultural exchanges, educational activities and programmes of moral and social rehabilitation, helping them recover from the horrors of war.
  • To foster cooperation between schools and municipalities in both countries, laying solid foundations for future partnerships and school or town twinnings.
  • To involve Ukrainian citizens living in Italy as cultural mediators in schools, giving them the opportunity to integrate into the Italian education system and, in time, to become liaisons and managers of international cooperation.

A small step towards a large network

The “100×100: Bridges of Education” project is long-term and is designed to grow step by step.

Taking part today means joining a steadily growing European educational network that opens up new prospects for schools: cooperation, cultural exchange and greater mutual understanding between Ukraine and Italy.
