Official presentation of the National Congress of Ukrainian Associations in Italy

Ladies and gentlemen,

The Congresso Nazionale delle associazioni ucraine in Italia (tax code 95027110618) is an officially constituted association working in the field of international cooperation.

Our story began on 24 August 2023 when, on Ukraine’s Independence Day, 36 Ukrainian associations and communities in Italy signed a Memorandum of Cooperation. Thanks to the success of that work, within a year the participants had formalised their relationship by creating a single organisation that officially represents the interests of the Ukrainian community in Italy.

The National Congress works with the European Congress of Ukrainians and the Ukrainian World Congress, playing an important role in developing international cooperation.

Today the National Congress platform (Coordinamento Unitario) brings together 44 organisations from almost every region of Italy. Detailed information about its members can be found at congressouait.com

The Congress has active Departments

• ✓Education – headed by Tetiana Hryhorska.
• ✓Culture – headed by Tetiana Snurnytska.
• ✓Strategic Communications – headed by Stanislav Shevchenko.
• ✓International Relations – headed by Olena Kuzmina.
• ✓Orientation for Communities and Newly Founded Associations “Shkilka” – headed by Zhanna Cherneha.

The Congress is also home to professional unions

• ✓Teachers.
• ✓Legal professionals.
• ✓Translators.
• ✓Mediators and consultants.

The members of the National Congress received the blessing of the Apostolic Exarch, Bishop Dionisii Liakhovych, an important spiritual foundation for the work ahead.

At a meeting on 20 September 2024, held during G7 Culture in Naples, attended by:

• the Minister of Culture of Ukraine, Mykola Tochytskyi,
• the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine, His Excellency Yaroslav Melnyk,
• the Consul General of Ukraine in Naples, Maksym Kovalenko,

it was agreed that the National Congress of Ukrainian Associations in Italy will become an open platform for the joint work of all Ukrainian associations and communities. This will make it possible to join forces to support Ukraine, to foster the integration of Ukrainians in Italy and to preserve their national identity.
