The first team from Ukraine in 30 years to return home with the cup and the victory!
The international youth football tournament “Città di Agropoli” took place from 15 to 19 April 2025. Youth teams from eight countries took part in this prestigious tournament:
- Ukraine (the “Champion” team from Ternopil)
- Italy
- Colombia
- Canada
- England
- Poland
- Kosovo
Slovakia.
The “Champion” youth team from Ternopil, which represented Ukraine under the Memorandum of Cooperation signed between the Ternopil Regional State Administration and the National Congress of Ukrainian Associations in Italy (CNAUI), won the tournament, becoming a true source of pride for Ukraine.
The victory of the “Champion” team is not only a sporting achievement but also a symbol of the unity, fortitude and resilience of the Ukrainian people.
Andrii Chovhan, a representative of the Ternopil Regional State Administration, said:
“This tournament continues the cooperation between the Ternopil Regional State Administration and CNAUI that began at the conference ‘A Bridge for Ukraine’s Revival’ in Rome on 7 March 2025. It clearly shows how important it is for Ukrainians abroad to come together to create opportunities and strengthen international ties. When Ukrainians are united, they can achieve great things, wherever they live.”
Lara Levchun, President of CNAUI, stressed:
“Ukrainians who live away from their homeland never forget their roots. Thanks to our associations we can make remarkable things happen, like this victory by young footballers from the Ternopil region. Special thanks go to the community of Agropoli, to Ms Oksana Bilomazur, Ms Lilia Kobel and everyone who organised this event and gave our children four unforgettable days. This is true unity: it inspires us and shows that together we are stronger than ever.”
We thank the Mayor of Agropoli, Roberto Mutalipassi, the local administration and the tournament organisers for their support and help to the young Ukrainian footballers. Thanks to their warm hospitality and assistance, the children gained unforgettable memories and a wonderful opportunity to represent Ukraine on the international stage.
The “Champion” coach, Andrii Kondzolka, also stressed the importance of the tournament for Ukrainian athletes:
“This tournament is not only a chance to show sporting skill but also a powerful symbol of Ukrainian athletes coming together with the international community. For our children it is an experience that motivates them to develop, to grow stronger and to keep defending Ukraine’s honour in sports arenas around the world. We are grateful to everyone who made this trip possible and supported our team on its way to victory.”
Champion – champions! Together towards new victories!
