Assimprenditori, an Italian business association, and the Coordination Centre of Ukrainian Associations in Italy today signed an important framework agreement aimed at developing synergies to foster the growth of free enterprise between Italy and Ukraine. The agreement was signed by the President of Assimprenditori, Dr Giuseppe Samà, and the President of the Coordination Centre of Ukrainian Associations, Larysa Levchun.

Naples, 3 July 2024
The Association of the Diplomatic and Consular Corps of Naples-Campania organised a charity event at the “Mostra d’Oltremare” grounds.

During the meeting with members of the Coordination Centre, the initiative to sign a Memorandum of Cooperation was presented to senior officials, including the Consul General of Ukraine, Maksym Kovalenko, and the Ambassador of Ukraine to Italy, Yaroslav Melnyk, by the coordinator, Mr Vadym Sydiachenko, a Ukrainian economic diplomat who currently serves as the Coordination Centre’s Adviser on Trade and Economic Affairs.

Oksana Rohova, President of the association “Uniti per l’Ucraina” (“United for Ukraine”) in Bari, stressed the importance of Ukrainians living in Italy and their active role as intermediaries between the two countries:
“After all, our knowledge rests not only on direct contacts with potential Italian investors, trading companies and banks, but also on joint work with institutions, research institutes and large enterprises involved in internationalisation and in supporting the export activities of Italian companies.”
What the agreement covers: it provides for a number of concrete measures to promote cooperation between businesses in the two countries:
- exchange of information and best practices;
- organisation of joint events and seminars;
- promotion of partnership agreements between businesses;
- help for businesses in accessing credit and finance;
- support for the creation of new businesses.
Statements
“This agreement is an important step towards strengthening economic and trade ties between Italy and Ukraine,” said President Giuseppe Samà. “We are convinced that cooperation between our businesses can contribute to the reconstruction of Ukraine and to a more prosperous future for both countries.”
The President of the Coordination Centre, Larysa Levchun, stated:
“We express our sincere gratitude to Assimprenditori for its willingness to work with us. This agreement is an important opportunity for Ukrainian businesses to access the Italian market and for Italian businesses to invest in Ukraine. By joining forces, we can overcome together the devastating crisis that has struck the Ukrainian nation.”
Why the agreement matters
The framework agreement is a significant step in strengthening economic relations between Italy and Ukraine. The concrete measures it provides for will foster cooperation between businesses in the two countries, supporting the economic growth and development of both states. The involvement of the Italian and Ukrainian institutions present at the signing underlines the strategic importance of this partnership. The agreement between Assimprenditori and the Coordination Centre, which represents the Ukrainian diaspora in Italy, is a sign of hope for future relations between Italy and Ukraine.
Cooperation between businesses in the two countries plays a key role in the reconstruction of Ukraine and in building a more prosperous future for both peoples.
It is worth noting that the signing of the agreement is the first step towards carrying out the tasks clearly set out at the Fourth Diaspora Forum, held in May this year. We are glad that the European Congress of Ukrainians supports the work of the Coordination Centre.
Opening the event, the President of the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Hennadii Chyzhykov, highlighted the role of the diaspora:
“To involve our compatriots from other countries of the world as fully as possible in cooperation for the benefit of Ukraine, for the fourth year in a row we are holding the International Business Days and the Fourth Business Forum of the Ukrainian Diaspora. Today we have brought in Ukrainians and partners from 57 countries.”
