On 2 March 2025, at the initiative of the “Azione” party led by Carlo Calenda, rallies in support of Ukraine and Europe took place all over Italy. The event marked an important step in strengthening solidarity between Ukrainians and Italians in the face of Russia’s ongoing aggression.
The rallies were held in cities and towns large and small across Italy, showing support for Ukraine in its fight for freedom, independence and sovereignty, and for a united and free Europe. They were an expression of unity, support and determination to uphold the democratic values on which the European community is founded.
Thank you to everyone who supported the initiative and took part in the events. Your participation matters to Ukraine and to the future of the Europe we all want to build. A huge thank you to each of you who found the time to be part of this important action and to stand up for the rights and freedoms of our country. Thank you also to our Italian friends who stand shoulder to shoulder with us, showing their solidarity and support at this crucial moment.
We must remember: when we are united, we are strong; when we are strong, we are invincible!
Glory to Ukraine!
Declaration of support for President Zelenskyy and the Ukrainian people following the meeting with President Trump
On the occasion of President Zelenskyy’s recent meeting with US President Donald Trump, the National Congress of Ukrainian Associations in Italy (CNAUI) sent a Declaration of Support.
The document stated:
“Dear President Zelenskyy,
We, the National Congress of Ukrainian Associations in Italy, express our full support for you and for the entire Ukrainian people with regard to your recent meeting with the President of the United States, Donald Trump. We understand the difficulties you faced during this important meeting, and we wish to stress that Ukraine is a sovereign and independent state and that you, as its legitimately elected President, lead our nation.
We emphasise that the independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine cannot be the subject of compromise. Russia is a threat not only to Ukraine but to the whole of Europe and the free world. Only resolve in defending freedom, democracy and justice can secure peace.
We call on international political forces to recognise that the only just outcome for Ukraine is the full restoration of its sovereignty. Any attempt to reach agreements without regard for the will of the Ukrainian people would amount to supporting the aggressor.
At this critical moment we must remain united: Ukraine, its diaspora and all the countries that share the values of freedom and justice. Only through resolve and solidarity can we stand up to aggression and build a lasting peace.”
Statement by the head of the Department of Strategic Communications, Stanislav Shevchenko:
“On behalf of the National Congress of Ukrainian Associations in Italy, we express our deep gratitude to everyone who took part in the rallies and actions in support of Ukraine. Your active participation in events like these cannot be overstated, because it is precisely through our joint efforts that we build strong international solidarity in support of Ukraine. The steps we take together bring victory closer and help us withstand any trial.”
On the occasion of the recent meeting between the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and US President Donald Trump, the National Congress of Ukrainian Associations in Italy officially expressed its support for President Zelenskyy and the entire Ukrainian people. This important meeting, held at a difficult time for Ukraine, was a further step in strengthening international support for our country in its fight for freedom, independence and territorial integrity.
In its document, the National Congress of Ukrainian Associations in Italy underlined its unwavering commitment to the principles of Ukraine’s sovereignty, unconditional support for the democratic choice of the Ukrainian people, and the need to stand firmly against external aggression. Our political forces and civil society organisations in Italy continue to work actively to secure a peaceful future for Ukraine and for the whole of Europe.
